Jeff Gordon’s crew won the Tissot Pit Road Precision Award in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte.

Gordon’s No. 24 crew, which also won the pit road award the previous week in California, has five Tissot season victories and has moved within one win of the lead.
The Tissot leader with five races remaining in the 2009 campaign is Greg Biffle’s No. 16 crew with six pit road wins.

LONDON - Adidas is launching an integrated campaign featuring six NBA All-Stars teaching youngsters the benefits of playing as a team.

The campaign, which features the tagline 'Basketball is a Brotherhood', was created by 180 LA, and consists of TV, digital, mobile, print and point-of-sale activity, each directing consumers to the addidas basketball website.

The players knew that Adidas was to run the camp, but they did not know that NBA All-Stars including Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics), Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs), Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards), Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Chauncey Billups (Detroit Pistons) and Tracy McGrady (Houston Rockets) would be teaching them. During the web series, the focus is shifted away from individual superstars and onto the real-life moments when a group of players becomes a team.

Swiss watchmaker Tissot, a $ 2.22 billion Swatch group company, today entered the Indian market with a wide range of watches, targetted at upper middle class segment.

Swatch group's regional general manager for South Asia Ravi Thakran said the Tissot launch that in the 35 to 40 million watch market in India, around 25 million watches are sold in the range of Rs 1,000.

''There was no watch available in the segment from Rs 3,000 to Rs 12,500. Tissot today introduced the watches in the range of Rs 3,200 to Rs 23,500,'' Thakran said.

Tissot entered the Indian market with 50 brands and would launch 30 more brands in the next six months, he added.

The company is part of the Swatch group, known the world over for its high quality and innovative time keeping devices. It has its presence in 145 countries of the world with more than 12,000 sales outlets.

Hayek said he was confident 2009 sales would be flat in local currencies as demand for its watches, including its luxury brands, has improved, with demand in May and June higher than the previous year.

Swatch Group, makers of Tissot was being helped by the fact that stock of its watches at retailers was lower than for rivals, so shops were having to order more inventory.

Demand for Swiss watches has fallen sharply as customers worry about the economy and their jobs. Swatch Group component maker Universo is introducing shorter working hours from September.

"Universo makes over 50 percent of its sales (by supplying) third parties. They already cut back massively on orders in February," Hayek said.

Universo, which makes hands for Richemont's Cartier watches, will introduce shorter working hours for around 280 of its 350 employees and is making employees take three weeks holiday this summer.

It was difficult to tell whether other businesses at Swatch Group would also have to cut working hours, he said, though no job cuts were planned.

Sekonda is a British brand which was established in 1966 to offer a collection of mechanical watches which were manufactured in Russia. With extensive marketing support and superb customer service Sekonda quickly became a household name. The introduction of the quartz movement saw manufacture moved to Hong Kong and this enabled Sekonda to introduce more fashionable styles. This combination and continued marketing support led to Sekonda becoming the best selling watch brand in units in the UK in 1988, a position that is still held today.

The period since 1998 has been one of rapid change with the introduction to the worldwide market of numerous fashion brands. Whilst competition is good for every brand, these new introductions started to take market share without substantially growing the total market for watches. Sekonda still remained the number one selling brand but action had to be taken. In 2004 SEKSY was born. With many years of experience in watches the Sekonda team turned their expertise to the fashion arena and developed product aimed at the 25 to 35 age group. This was launched with nine models and again was backed with impactful advertising. SEKSY and ONE are meant to be different from other fashion brands but both ranges still carry the Sekonda ethos of giving the customer excellent product at competitive prices. The brands have grown each year and in 2006 the third advertising campaign for SEKSY and second for ONE, created substantial demand by going back on television through sponsorship of programmes such as 'Jack Osbourne Adrenaline Junkie', 'Ghost Hunting with Girls Aloud' and 'An Audience with Take That'. In 2007 the SEKSY range and ONE ranges will be expanded.

Stringent quality control is a feature of all Sekonda watches under all its associated brand names. Quality is never sacrificed due to commercial pressure and these standards have ensured that out of 1.6 million watches sold, less than 1% are returned.
